Whether you're just starting out or looking to take your business to the next level, these tips will help you achieve your sales goals and position your business for long-term success.

There are many ways to increase sales for your thrifting business, but here are some effective strategies.

1. Improve Customer Service!

Improve the customer experience: Focus on providing excellent customer service, offering personalized experiences, and making it easy for customers to buy from you. One thing I ALWAYS do is keep in contact with my customers from the beginning of their purchase until they receive their purchase. And I make sure that I send out a thank you message when an order is received to acknowledge the customer.

2. Partner Up!

Expand your target audience: Look for new markets to reach by expanding your product line, advertising in new places, or partnering with complementary businesses. As a thrift store owner connecting with consignment stores, event managers, and other people who are in the community can help boost your sales. One of the most overlooked places most thrifters ignore is garage sales. Many communities will allow you to sign up and sell your items for a small donation-which is usually just a table set up fee or space. Sell your things just like you are one of the neighbors.

3. Promote for FREE on Social Media!

Leverage social media: Use social media platforms to promote your brand and products, engage with your audience, and build a community around your brand. Just about EVERY social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc) is free to use. You can create a posting schedule, go LIVE, and talk about your thrifting business. If you are tech savvy you can use a platform like Streamyard and live stream on all the platforms at the same time. Game changer and time saver! 4. Discounts & Bundling Drives Sales!

Offer promotions and discounts: Run limited-time sales, create coupon codes, or offer free shipping to incentivize customers to buy from you. As a thrift store seller, you already know we find bargains and specials. And we should extend bargains to our customers. Typically I offer a 20% discount if you purchase 2 or more items from me and this includes FREE shipping over $50. You may choose run specials for holidays, grand openings, special occasions, or just because. But one thing I think helps my sales is constantly offering a weekly discount. Discounting and excepting offers (if right) will help increase sales and bring people back to you. I also give a coupon for 30% off an order for a repeat customer. But make sure you are effectively pricing your products to make up for discounts along the way.

5. Email Marketing Is Still A Gem!

Increased thrift sales come from your emails! Email marketing can help increase sales by providing customers with information about new products or services, special offers, or promotions. It can also be used to follow up with customers who have expressed interest in your business but have not yet purchased. You can use email to communicate new items before it hits your store and build buying momentum too! Customers can contact you to purchase directly through an email as well. Remember people like to email for a faster experience!
